Well I made it to San Diego! For those of you that have read the ABOUT ME page of my website you will know that I have a home in Vermont as well as one in San Diego. Last week I traveled by train across the US, my favorite way to travel, and am now at home here in San Diego. I took tons of photos while going through new Mexico and Arizona which inspires me so much! The colors are rich and earthy. Once in California the train took me along the Pacific coastline where the ocean colors of blue and green inspired me that much more! The inspiration of the natural colors made me take another look at some of the pattern samples I am doing for my new line. I thought a long time and I decided that the patterns as well as the colors really need to reflect my own voice much more that they did. The colors of nature, such as blues and greens of the ocean and the method of fabric collage is what I truly love. Hmmm....maybe I should reflect that in my work. Isn't that what ART is all about! So yesterday I started working on a combination of the two. I love making my own fabric by using the surface design method of collage. So I am working up a sample of one of my patterns using this method. It is truly amazing how this process is evolving. I am hoping the sample comes out the way I envision it. If so I will be adding all the details and instructions to my patterns. Here is a peek at a small piece of fabric collage I started last night and some of my photos! I hope you are inspired as well!
